The castle Vischering resembles a fortress and served as a defense complex with residential buildings as well as farm buildings, which were distributed on different islands. After the castle burned down completely in the 16th century, it was rebuilt on the old foundations.
It retained its character as a fortified stronghold even after the reconstruction, despite changes to the interior design. Today, Burg Vischering is considered one of the most exciting photo motifs in the Münsterland region.
